East Yorkshire entrepreneur invests £60k in double decker bus hotel appearing on C4’s Amazing Spaces

East Yorkshire-based entrepreneur, Oliver Kemp, is due to feature in this Thursday June 19 screening of ‘George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces’ on Channel 4,after renovating a double decker bus with £60k into a functioning mobile hotel.

BEDROAM® is a blend of hotel, first class cabin and tent and has up to 18 luxury sleeping pods, two bathrooms and a covered outdoor space.

Designed to enable people to stay onsite at live event venues around the country, from race tracks and festivals to country shows and sporting fixtures, BEDROAM® provides a base for groups and individuals to stay in, close to where the action is.

Ollie, who works in his family’s farming business in Melbourne, near York, spotted a gap in the market for BEDROAM® as a result of spending many years roughing it at motorbike events and festivals around the UK.

Following a serious motorbike racing accident, Ollie was recovering in hospital and took inspiration from a magazine article which was celebrating the growth of the live events industry but commenting on the difficulties of finding good accommodation close by.

Ollie said: “For many people who attend festivals and events, in my case motorbike races, finding suitable accommodation, but still being close to the action, can be impossible. The live events industry is thriving yet many people don’t want to rough it – hence my idea to create BEDROAM®.

“It has been fantastic that Channel 4 decided to feature us as one of their ‘Amazing Spaces’ and gives us an brilliant start to launch BEDROAM® from.”

BEDROAM® offers 14 individual sleeping pods, inspired by Japanese design, on the upper floor complete with an individual compartment for personal belongings and power socket.

Each sleeping pod is equipped with a foam based luxury mattress, duvet, pillow and bedding.

The lower deck comprises of a further four sleeping pods which can be converted into a flexible lounge area with seating, rotating flat screen TV and fridge. An extensive awning is erected outside the vehicle, to create an outside space to be used as a social area.
