North Yorkshire brewing entrepreneurs invest five figures in online beer hub

New online beer hub Brewd.com has launched in York, the brainchild of self-confessed beer lovers and entrepreneurs Scott Heslop, Chris Heslop and Anthony Beswick.

Brewd, which promotes microbrewers in the UK, has handpicked dozens of brewers from York to London to be celebrated on the new website.

Yorkshire and North East breweries include Hop Studio in York, Anarchy Brewery in Northumberland, Tatton Brewery from Cheshire and the Durham Brewery.

Scott, Chris and Anthony got started with personal investment and by taking out business loans out via Rockstar Loans, a Government-backed initiative, and a loan from the Whyte Knight fund in York.

Based at the York Eco Business Centre, the hub sells what it considers the best beer from across the UK.

Scott Heslop said: “We wanted to create a website where anyone who loves beer could come to share in our passion for British microbreweries, and get their hands on some incredible beers and ales,”

“We’re flying the flag for British microbreweries, celebrating unique stories, fantastic brews and bringing everything together to share with a wider audience.”

“Brewd’s network of brewers are passionate about crafting full favoured beers using natural ingredients from all over the world. These local brews deserve to be tasted!”

Brewd is offering a ‘pick and mix’ box of beer, which allows customers to tailor their taste and handpick their own selection of beers, from 6 bottles to 60.

The choice includes a wheat beer brewed with whole raspberries sourced from local allotments and strong beers inspired by 18th century monks that have brewed ales for thousands of years.

Anthony said: “Brewd.com is breaking new ground because we’re not just a shop or a social network about beer. We bring these two elements together to create the ultimate beer website in the UK.

“Brewd allows beer lovers to rate and review what they’ve drunk, discover new beers, connect with fans and follow the brewers behind the bottle.

“We are catering to an increasing number of the drinking population who want more flavour, more complexity and more food compatibility in their beer.

“We are offering Great British Beers for people to try, and helping them to support their British Brewers too”.
