Sir Tim Berners-Lee to open IP EXPO Europe 2014
IP EXPO Europe, Europe’s leading cloud and IT infrastructure event, today announces that inventor of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, will give the keynote speech for 2014, to take place at the opening of the show on 8th October this year.
2014 will mark the 25th anniversary of the first draft of a proposal for what would become the World Wide Web. To mark this milestone, he will share his vision for the Web – exploring the challenges for business as well as the potential to overcome them through policies and innovations which will help drive future success, create new markets and transform how commerce will be done in the World and on the Web.
Sir Tim comments; “I am looking forward to addressing key decision makers in European business at IP EXPO Europe. The issues that will shape the future of the Web - from privacy and data regulation, to sustainability and responsibility - don’t just touch our businesses, they touch our lives, and we are all at the very epicentre.”
Sir Tim’s opening keynote will be followed by an impressive programme from leading technology influencers; including Cloudera’s Doug Cutting, creator of Hadoop, and Mark Russinovich, Technical Fellow at Microsoft.
Whether attendees build it, run it or protect it, IP EXPO Europe 2014 is designed for those looking to understand how the latest IT innovations drive business. To that end, the show will be co-located with two brand new complementary events: Cyber Security EXPO, specifically developed to address the challenges presented in this new era of cyber threats, and Data Centre EXPO for builders, operators and managers alike.
Mark Steel, CEO of Imago Techmedia, the organisers of IP EXPO Europe, said: “Who better to hear talking about the future of the Web than the inventor of the Web himself. That Sir Tim Berners-Lee has chosen to share his 2050 vision at IP EXPO Europe reinforces the importance of the European technology community and its growing influence on the global stage”.
