Leeds’ Clipper Logistics expands in the south with a new transport hub
Clipper, the retail logistics specialist, has opened a new transport hub in Harlow, predominantly positioned to service retailer needs in and around London, & across the South East.
The new site will provide increased choice and convenience for Clipper customers and is a key part of the company’s ongoing growth plans.
The facility, which is sited on the Pinnacles development in Harlow, will house a fleet of 50 vehicles and benefits from excellent transport links, as well as its proximity to key strategic ports and trade hubs.
In addition to its strategic transport role, the site will also operate as a shared-user DC facility, which offers operational benefits for retailers of all sizes by sharing the cost of technology and infrastructure.
It will also host Clipper’s retail deconsolidation solution for Regent Street, which reduces road miles, congestion and emissions by making multiple retailer deliveries in one journey.
Clipper’s operations director, Nigel Hinds commented “We had been searching for a larger site that can accommodate customer growth plans for a while, and the benefits of the Harlow location for ease of ‘cross dock’ operations are already apparent.
“We are pleased that under the expert management of Susan McKeown , transport manager and Richard Ball, head of transport, the 90 team members from our former Enfield facility transferred to the new location and we were ‘business as usual’ very quickly post the move - resulting a seamless transition for our existing customers.”
The new Clipper Harlow facility has undergone an extensive refurbishment and further benefits from a new hanging garment cross-dock installation.
