Major growth helps Brose UK seal Large Manufacturer award

Creating 300 new jobs and investing over £15m into its Coventry operations helped a major automotive supplier secure a prestigious business accolade last night.

Brose UK, which supplies window regulators and front and rear seating systems to the car industry, beat off strong competition from across the West Midlands to secure the Business Desk Masters ‘Large Manufacturer’ Award in front of 250 people at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

The company impressed judges with its commitment to the region and its phenomenal growth that has seen it quadruple the workforce to 500 people since 2012, with plans already in place to increase this by a further 300 by 2016.

Thomas Kohlbauer, Managing Director of Brose UK, commented: “We have been manufacturing in Coventry for over 25 years and this is the first time our investment in the region has been recognised in this way.

“The whole team will be delighted. Every part of the business has worked tirelessly to ensure we have been able to meet massive surges in demand from our customers, not to mention introducing a new dedicated window regulator assembly area at our second factory in Courtaulds Way near the centre of Coventry.

“2014 has been a really good year so far, with this award following on from a major contract success to supply window regulators to the new Nissan Qashqai.”

He concluded: “Our parent company recognises our efforts to turn the company around since the recession and is highly appreciative of the contribution from our workforce. The ‘Masters’ success will reinforce this as we aim for further expansion and involvement in new model platforms and launches.”
