Major recruitment drive at Coventry leisure centre

Major improvements at a city leisure centre will cause positive ripples in the local jobs market.

Coventry Sports Foundation, which is the leading sports and leisure provider in the city, is looking to recruit around 20 new staff to join its team at Centre AT7 on Bell Green Road, in Coventry.

It is the largest recruitment drive to take place at the centre since it opened in 1987 and the foundation is looking to fill a wide-range of positions including lifeguards, swimming teachers, aqua class instructors, cleaners, receptionists and café bar staff.

The jobs have been created following a major project to create a new swimming pool and extend the centre’s facilities with the work due to be completed in August.

As well as the new pool there will be a splash pool and racing slides along with a health suite featuring a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. New conference and meeting rooms will also be created at the site.

Coventry Sports Foundation is a charitable trust which provides access to affordable city-wide sports and leisure activities at three sites including Centre AT7 on Bell Green Road, the Alan Higgs Centre on Allard Way and Xcel Leisure Centre on Mitchell Avenue.

Kath Healion, operations manager at Coventry Sports Foundation, said the creation of new jobs at Centre AT7 will be a major boost within the local community.

“We are delighted to be able to extend our team and offer extensive job opportunities for people across the city,” she said.

“There are a variety of positions available including some that will involve working at the brand new swimming pool and we are inviting people to apply now.

“The new staff will come on board at an exciting time in the centre’s development as we aim to create a high-quality community sports centre which serves as a sport and leisure hub for activity in the area.”
