Sierra appoints first managing director in the UK

Sierra Support Services Group, one of the leading outsource service providers in Ireland and UK, has appointed Jerry Collins as its first UK managing director.

Jerry joins from the Rotary Group where he spent 18 years as managing director of Rotary Ireland, building the business from a turnover of €400,000 to in excess of €50m in Ireland. He was also a main board director of Rotary Group from 2000 to 2012 where annual turnover ranged £120m- £210m.

With a career spanning more than 30 years, he has held key roles in the mechanical, hydraulics and electrical industry including regional commercial manager at international contractor The Kentz Group.

Responsible for delivering projects both across Ireland and overseas whilst at the Rotary Group, Jerry has worked with a range of clients including the delivery of a €12.9m data centre for WTI Telecom and a €9.8m contract for Worldcom.

Jerry has also delivered projects in the wastewater, infrastructure, residential property, healthcare, education, commercial and industrial sectors including working on projects for the Arcadia Group, Virgin, House of Fraser, Grosvenor Estates, Medtronic and Boston Scientific.

Sierra’s group managing director, TJ Malone, says: “Sierra has ambitious plans to grow its UK operations to reflect the presence we already have in Ireland and Jerry’s appointment will help realise that ambition.

“We already work with some of the UK’s leading utility and digital companies as a seamless addition to their engineering teams but we now need to take the UK business to the next level. Jerry’s experience in growing companies and securing key contracts is essential to those plans.

“His familiarity with our culture and vision as well as his strong leadership skills will ensure Sierra becomes a major player in the UK, mirroring our success in Ireland.”

Sierra has been operating in the UK since October 2012 and has a large field team already delivering innovative, high quality end-to-end outsourced solutions to blue chip organisations and public bodies which will be a main focus for the business going forward.

Of his new position, Collins says: “Sierra has worked very hard to position itself as the leading outsource service provider within Ireland and I am delighted to be taking on this role with the focus on building and establishing a greater profile here in the UK.

Part of the Siteserv group, Sierra’s UK head office is based in Glasgow and employs 100 engineer and support staff.
