SMEs invited to join free seminar and clinic on employment law and HR

Businesses are being urged to take advantage of a free seminar that will bring them up to date with current employment law and help ensure they are compliant with legislation.

HR2day has joined forces with NEPIC, the North East Process Industry Cluster, and the BASME business acceleration programme for SMEs in the sector, for the event at the Wilton Centre on July 17.

Although the seminar is targeted at the processing and chemical industries, it is open to all businesses as the advice offered will not be sector specific.

The morning seminar will be followed by an HR clinic at which companies can book a half-hour confidential session.

Founder of Darlington-based HR2day Nicky Jolley, who has 17 years’ experience in HR including ten in the oil and gas sector, said: “This is the latest in our free series of NEPIC-sponsored seminars that have proven especially popular with SME suppliers in the sector who don’t have the resources to employ a full time HR manager.

“Our informative events bring them up to date with their obligations and give them the chance to ask questions, helping them to identify what action they may need to take back in their business. We cover a lot of ground in the morning session so it’s a great use of their time.”

Training manager Becky Armstrong, who along with Nicky has a masters degree in HR, will cover a range of topics from employment contracts and company handbooks to the role of managers, the Equality Act and staff communications.

Registration is at 8.30am for a 9am start. For more information or to book a slot at an afternoon clinic session, register at www.hr2day.co.uk or call 01325 288299.
