Award nomination for Sunderland digital agency

A young Sunderland creative agency has been shortlisted for a prestigious digital award.

RGB Media, based at the Sunderland Software Centre, has been nominated for the best Micro Enterprise at this year’s Big Chip Awards, the UKs biggest digital awards ceremony outside of London.

The Big Chip Awards are dedicated to celebrating the digital sector in the North of England and this year attracted over 300 entries from digital, marketing and technology companies from Northern towns and cities.

RGB Media will join other shortlisted companies at the awards finals which take place on the 3rd July in Manchester.

RGB Media co-founder and director Iraa Kadchha said: “We are delighted to have been nominated for a Big Chip Award.

“This nomination just three years after establishing the business is testament to the team’s hard work and dedication after what has been our most successful year to date which has seen us acquire clients from across the UK and beyond.”

Adam Wimpenny, fellow co-founder and director adds, “It is a huge endorsement of the quality of work we do and the world-class service we deliver to clients. It gives us the confidence to continue to grow and expand the business in the future.”

The PR, marketing, web and print design company was set up in 2011 when the pair, both University of Sunderland alumni, spotted an opportunity to offer full-service marketing and design solutions to businesses in the region.

After spending two years in the University’s business incubator hub The Enterprise Place, RGB Media moved into the Sunderland Software Centre in October 2013. Since the move, they have worked on a number of projects for other companies within the building, including a number of branding and print design projects for events firm Sunderland Live.

The company also managed the branding and website for fellow tenant Launch USA, a newly established firm offering interim management and relocation packages for tech companies wanting to set up offices in the USA.

Further away from home, RGB media has been making a name for itself around the world, adding projects in the USA and Canada to its growing list of clients.

The company recently took on interns to help the company meet the demands of a growing number of clients, and Iraa and Adam plan to grow the team further before the end of the year.

RGB Media has already made a name for itself in the region with a number of coveted awards and celebrated success at the Portfolio Business Awards in the creative industries category in 2012.

The Big Chip Awards mark the first time the company has been nominated for a business award outside of the region.

This year is the 16th annual Big Chip awards, which is organised by not for profit trade association Manchester Digital to celebrate and promote digital industries in the North. The awards are backed by some of the industry’s biggest names including the BBC, Trinity Mirror and Codeworks, who are responsible for staging the annual Thinking Digital conference in Gateshead.

David Dunn, Chief Executive of Sunderland Software City said: “RGB Media’s well-deserved nomination in the Big Chip Awards is testament to the company’s drive for success.

“RGB has built a strong reputation for quality and skill on a regional, national and now international level and has come a long way in a relatively short space of time.

“The work they have carried out for fellow tenants of the Sunderland Software Centre is helping the companies to raise awareness of their brand and attract new clients, helping to boost the prospects of the city’s digital economy.

“They should celebrate this achievement and I and the rest of the digital community here in Sunderland wish them the best of luck for the award finals next week.”
