North East tissue manufacturer is recognised in global ethics rankings
Prudhoe-based tissue manufacturer, SCA, has been acclaimed as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the seventh consecutive year.
Leading hygiene and forest products company SCA is one of only two Europe-based companies to achieve this accolade and one of just nine companies that have been honoured by the Ethisphere Institute in this year’s consumer products industry category.
The Ethisphere recognition highlights companies that go above and beyond making statements about doing business ethically and actually translate those words into reality.
As a part of its ethical commitment, SCA puts a strong focus on achieving global sustainability goals set out in the company’s newly-published 2014 Sustainability report and has already achieved some targets one year early.
Such achievements are in line with the company’s philosophy of caring for its people, industries, agriculture and the eco-system.
SCA’s mill manager at Prudhoe, Richard Sutcliffe, said, “Sustainability is engrained in SCA’s DNA and we are very proud that the company has achieved its targets for reducing water usage and carbon emissions a year earlier than expected with more improvements planned for the future.”
SCA Hygiene is the largest consumer tissue company in the UK and Ireland with seven manufacturing sites and over 1,800 employees. Last year alone, 17.28m or 67% of UK households bought SCA branded products such as TENA, Plenty, Velvet and Bodyform.
