Transmec UK supports rising West Yorkshire cycling star

A talented West Yorkshire cyclist is being given a helping hand by a company that knows speed is of the essence.

Fifteen-year-old Harry Hardcastle, who is one of the country’s top young road racers, has secured a sponsorship deal with Transmec UK, a leading provider of transport and logistics services.

Paul Priestley, manager of Transmec UK’s Bradford depot, said: “As a keen cyclist myself I certainly recognise Harry’s talent. I’ve been very impressed by his commitment and achievements to date and it’s great to think we’re helping him achieve his considerable potential in the sport.”

Harry, who is from Roberttown, has already achieved a string of high-profile successes including a fourth-place overall finish in British Cycling’s nine-race National Series and a stage win in the Youth Tour of Scotland. He has also been identified as a potential future Olympian and he already attends a regional school which provides racing tuition.

A dedicated member of Kirklees Cycling Academy (KCA), Harry was KCA’s first-ever member when it was formed four years ago. While focusing on road racing, he also competes in cyclo-cross, mountain biking and track events.

“I’m really grateful for Transmec’s support. It makes a big difference as it helps me to buy new kit and equipment and covers some of my race entry fees,” said Harry, who is due to race in Belgium at the end of the month.

Harry will also be competing in the road race taking place in Huddersfield town centre on July 4. Held on the eve of the Tour de France Grand Départ from Leeds, it is particularly significant for him as he has ambitions to go on to ride in the world-famous race.
