Rotherham marquee firm sees boost in business before the Tour de France

Rotherham-based Gala Tent, the UK’s largest importer and exporter of tents, marquees and gazebos, has seen a boost in business which is due in part to Le Grand Depart, with over 40 commercial gazebos sold to businesses planning events along the route.

Jason Mace, managing director of Gala Tent, said: “It’s been an exciting few weeks and we’ve been really busy, particularly with sales of the larger marquee and gazebos, to pubs, hotels and other businesses across the Yorkshire region.

“Many of the sales have been for our large 6m x 20m and 6m x 24m Gala Tent marquees for major events planned as part of the Tour De Yorkshire celebrations.

“We’ve also seen major increases in domestic marquee sales for people organising parties at home, so it looks like there will be lots of parties happening in homes across Yorkshire this weekend!”

Gala Tent has also seen an increase in the number of event hire companies buying its next generation Fusion marquee, which is available in 3m to 9m spans and manufactured from lightweight high grade aluminium. Due to customer demand, the company is planning to release a 12m Fusion marquee next year.

Gala Tent acquired a 50% stake in digital printing business Sign Man, which meant it has been able to offer next day delivery to many of its clients. This has resulted in a significant increase in orders due to its enhanced customer service, reliability and speed.

Jason Mace continues: “Business is booming at the moment and we’ve been pleased recently to make a number of new appointments, including a new business development advisor and two new apprentices.

“Our custom printing department is going from strength to strength since we acquired the Sign Man digital printing business for marquees and gazebos six months ago which means we can provide an even quicker and better service.”

Founded in 1999, Gala Tent has grown to sell over 10,000 tents and marquees each year, along with around 90,000 event accessories and furniture products. In the UK, Gala Tent is a preferred supplier for organisations including the military, NHS, the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, South Yorkshire Police Service, St John’s Ambulance and AA.
