Enigmatic Teesside twosome goes for international growth

A specialist analysis business established by two Teesside mums is looking to expand nationally and internationally as it marks its second anniversary.

Friends Louise King and Rebecca Sergeant, who met whilst working as intelligence analysts for Cleveland Police, established Enigma Analysis in Billingham in 2013.

The ladies, who have a combined experience of almost 20 years in the sector, recognised a gap in the market for their very specific services, working with organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors, after having their children and decided to set up in business together to allow them to work across the North East region and further afield.

Enigma Analysis is one of the only companies of its kind in the North East, providing intelligence analysis and research solutions to other businesses, in both the public and private sectors, with services including support for investigations and litigation, due diligence, pre-employment screening and tactical and strategic assessments, as well as supporting enquiries and investigations through open source research and the charting of information to summarise large quantities of information and highlights patterns in the data and gaps in knowledge.

The use of data analysis helps clients to show the success of their services, highlight strengths and weaknesses in their performance and improve efficiency.

One of Enigma Analysis’s niche areas is working with charities, helping them to collate facts, figures and achievements which can assist with further fundraising and development with stakeholders.

Clients to date include the North East Trading Standards Association, various regional charities and private investigation firms. Thanks to the development of the business in its first year, Louise and Rebecca now plan to move to an office in Stockton and are investing in industry-specific technology to allow them to take their services to the international marketplace.

Louise King said: “The last year has been a huge learning curve for both of us but because what we offer is so niche, we are making a real name for ourselves faster than we anticipated. We have some very high profile clients which is allowing us to constantly re-invest in our business. We now have some of the most sophisticated industry software available in the sector which means we can work on larger contracts and, hopefully, go international.”

Rebecca Sergeant added: “As we move into our second year, we have high hopes that we can now expand quite rapidly into new areas and new markets. Our business has grown faster than we planned and there is a real need for what we do- now more so than ever- so we are ahead of our predicted growth plans and are now entering an exciting phase.”
