Midlands Family Business Awards: Last call for entries

There are just a few days left to submit entries for the 2014 Midlands Family Business Awards, the regions only not-for-profit, independent initiative to recognise family businesses and their advisers.

The Awards are organised by third generation family business The Wilson Organisation, and entries, which are free, can be made until midnight on the 14th July, with full details of all categories and how to enter available at www.familybusinessawards.co.uk.

Family businesses of any size, sector or specialism can enter up to three of the ten categories in the 2014 Awards. Categories include the headline Midlands Family Business of the Year, and two new for this year – the Employer of the Year and Director of the Year (under 40).

Leading Adviser to Family Businesses

Manufacturing Excellence

International Development

Service Excellence.

Sponsors for the 2014 Awards are Midlands’ accountants and business advisers Smith Cooper, headline sponsor for the fourth consecutive year, Barclays, Becketts Farm, Crouch Logistics, First Actuarial, PwC, Premium Credit, Shakespeares, Thomas Miller Investment, and Unum.

The panel of independent judges includes Mark Samworth of fourth generation family business Samworth Brothers, MD of 99p Stores Hussein Lalani, John Horrell, MD of Dodson & Horrell, Rebecca Manfredi, MD of Suncream Dairies and winner of the 2013 Outstanding Contribution Award, and journalist Dhiren Katwa.

Businesses shortlisted in the Awards will go through to the judging stage in September, with winners announced at the prestigious Awards Dinner in Nottingham on the 13th November 2014.

2014 is the fifth year for the not-for-profit, independent Awards, and this year they are raising funds for The Outward Bound Trust, the educational charity for young people. Since their launch in 2010, the Awards have raised in the region of £20,000 for charities supporting young people and enterprise.
