New West Yorkshire craft beer and street food venture to open in Leeds this week

Bundobust, a collaboration between two West Yorkshire food and drink institutions, which started out as a pop-up, is set to open its doors this week.

The fusion restaurant, which promises to offer a unique combination of craft beer and Indian street food is a collaboration between Bradford’s Sparrow Bier Café and multi-award winning vegetarian restaurant Prashad.

More of a bar than a restaurant, Bundobust will serve up an range of local beer from the Kirkstall Brewery, Magic Rock and Saltaire Brewery as well as Danish brewers Mikkeller, a Mango and Chilli IPA by Flying Dog and their house Coriander Pilsner brewed by a small family brewery in the Czech Republic.

Bundobust has been making successful pop-up appearances in Leeds for the last six months at Leeds International Beer Festival, Veg Out Festival, Friends of Ham and Belgrave Music Hall.

The permanent home on Mill Hill is just a stones throw away from Leeds Train Station and Trinity, and is close to independent cafes and bars such as Friends Of Ham and Laynes Espresso.

Mark Husak, owner The Sparrow and Bundobust said: “We wanted to create something different in Leeds. There are plenty of places offering great beer, and there are plenty of amazing curry houses, but no other establishments have offered the two together. There is so much history and tradition with Beer and India that we want to promote.

“British brewed India Pale Ales were exported to India in the times of The Raj. These tasty hop forward beers go perfectly with spicy food.

“Bundobust will be more of a bar than a restaurant. The ever-changing food menu will focus on small plates of vegetarian Indian street eats that are rarely seen in the UK.

“The beer menu will see over 50 of the most exciting brews the world has to offer. We want the experience to be informal. Customers can come in for a snack and a quick half or have a full meal and work through the range of beers.”
