Success for Barratt North East sales team

Having invested in a new formal training programme for its sales team in the North East, Barratt Homes has seen a 100% pass rate among its 40 sales advisers at developments across the region.

The programme involves both a written exam and role-play assessment and is accredited by the Institute of Sales and Marketing, a first for the industry.

Eight sales advisers achieved Distinctions including Siobhan Hope and Elaine Walker, who are both based at Lakeside View in Killingworth. Forty five homes were sold at the development before the showhomes opened, making it one of the fastest-selling Barratt sites in the region.

Siobhan, who joined Barratt in June 2013 from another housebuilder. said: “At Barratt you get lots of support and training, which really helps with your personal development.

“Buying a home is probably the biggest purchase people make in their lifetime and I want to provide them with the best possible service throughout the whole process. Good training helps me to achieve that.”

Elaine, who joined Barratt in December 2013, added: “I love the variety of the job, no two days are the same. The best part is seeing how happy people are when they receive the keys to their new home.

“I have only been with the company for a short time but I’ve found that Barratt genuinely care about their employees. It’s a great place to work.”

Training is provided for all sales advisers at Barratt Group. It is based on the Single Sales Principle – a focus on the customer and an understanding of why people buy – and is delivered by an external provider.

Fenton Hewitt, Sales Director at Barratt North East, said: “I’m very proud of this achievement. We back our sales teams with the best support in the business.

“We have a well-defined career pathway and a programme of training and development to ensure that our people have all the support they need to deliver the customer service expected from a leading housebuilder.”
