Adastra 111 software manages 10 million NHS 111 calls

Figures released today reveal that Adastra 111, a market leading patient management system from Advanced Health & Care (Advanced) has been used to manage more than 10,000,000 NHS 111 calls since the solution was implemented in December 2011. This equates to one call every eight seconds. Advanced predicts that Adastra will have been used to manage 15,000,000 NHS 111 calls by the end of 2014.

NHS 111 is a free telephone service offering help and advice for people with non-emergency health issues. Patients are assessed and directed towards the most appropriate care options.

Adastra 111 is the system of choice for the majority of NHS Foundation Trusts and third party service providers. The system is used by multiple organisations in the UK, including Fylde Coast Medical Service, the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Care UK, a leading provider of health and social care services which works in close partnership with the NHS. The 10,000,000th call was received and managed by a member of Care UK’s team.

Jim Chase, Managing Director, Advanced Health & Care, comments “The fact that Adastra 111 has been used to manage 10,000,000 calls to date is an important landmark for us which underlines how successfully the system is within the NHS and by its partner provider organisations.

“We are proud of the role that Adastra 111 has played since the launch of NHS 111. The solution is key to ensuring callers are guided to the most appropriate medical services for them as efficiently as possible.”

Edmund Jahn, Director of Product and Service Development, Care UK, comments: “We are delighted to learn that one of our own team members managed the 10,000,000th call. Adastra 111 is central to our NHS111 operations and ability to provide a high quality service to NHS 111 callers. Adastra 111 is a high quality system that is easy to use and the support we receive from Advanced ensures that the product is flexible and configurable to suit our changing business requirements. This means we can respond to callers and provide them with the most appropriate outcome quickly and effectively.”

Adastra 111 is a robust clinical patient management system specifically designed to allow NHS 111 providers to fully triage patients on the first call and when required, send assessments on to services without the need for re-triaging. The solution is one of the only fully compliant NHS111 systems in England that is also approved to access NHS Personal Demographics Service and the Summary Care Record.
