Legislation training for North West staffing firms from Optionis

Warrington-based recruitment services group Optionis has revamped its legislative compliance training visits for staffing firms.

The firm offers free sessions, covering the onshore and offshore employment intermediaries legislation and the recent European ruling on holiday pay and commission. Other areas covered include:

Aimed at recruitment consultants and other ‘coal face’ agency staff, the sessions are led by the Optionis group’s legal and technical director Juliet Byrne, and compliance manager Mairi Bowen.

Juliet, a qualified solicitor who has specialised in employment law for over 15 years, said: “The legislative landscape rarely stands still in the world of recruitment and employment, and recent months have seen significant developments – particularly in the shape of the new rules on false self-employment.

“That’s why we have updated the content of our successful technical training visits. Keeping compliance procedures up to date – not to mention ensuring your recruiters are fully up to speed – can be challenging for even the most pro-active agency, and these sessions are designed to aid them in this task.”

Through its Parasol and ClearSky Contractor Accounting brands, the Optionis group maintains relationships with thousands of UK recruitment firms, including some of the biggest names in the industry.

Parasol has employed more than 70,000 contractors, freelancers and contingent workers since launching 14 years ago, while ClearSky recently secured its 10,000th contractor client.

Dozens of staffing firms have benefited from the Optionis group’s compliance training since the sessions were introduced in 2012.
