Oldham construction and fit-out firm announces £4.7 million worth of pub contracts

Oldham-based construction and fit-out specialist Medlock FRB has announced £4.7 million of pub contract wins for national chains Greene King and JD Wetherspoon and regional operator Joseph Holt.

The Oldham-based firm has secured five projects across the North West, Yorkshire and Scotland, which range in value from £500k to £1.5 million.

Medlock has been commissioned by Greene King to build and fit out two Hungry Horse venues – one on the site of the former Royal Ordnance factory at Buckshaw Village, Chorley, Lancashire, and the other on the outskirts of Sheffield.

Medlock is due to complete the work in December and next February respectively.

The firm has previously completed Hungry Horse projects in Rochdale, St Helens, Cleveleys, Wallsend on Tyneside, and another in Sheffield.

Meanwhile, Medlock has completed its first project for JD Wetherspoon, converting units at the Rivergate Shopping Centre at Irvine, Ayrshire, into the Auld Brig pub.

This month, Medlock begins the conversion and fit-out of a former cinema in Morley, near Leeds, for JD Wetherspoon. The pub, which will be called The Picture House, will be completed in November.

Joseph Holt has awarded Medlock a contract to build and fit-out a new pub/restaurant at an £8 million retail development in Warrington. Medlock will complete the contract, on the site of the former Fordton Leisure Centre, in October.

Steve Taylor, Medlock’s head of business development, said: “We are delighted to gain our first projects for JD Wetherspoon and to be once again working with Greene King and Joseph Holt.

“Our track record of delivering hundreds of similar projects, employing some of the industry’s best people and providing a high-quality service, has been a crucial factor in securing these contracts, in addition to our overall experience in the leisure sector, which includes hotels, cinemas, health clubs and holiday parks.

“These projects represent a significant step forward for the Medlock business.”
