Mosedale Gillatt Architects takes on new Associate Director

Newcastle-based architects, Mosedale Gillatt is pleased to announce that Iona Owen joins the management team as an Associate Director.

Co-Directors Tim Mosedale and Jenny Gillatt set up the practice in 1995 and Mosedale Gillatt Architects has grown to be one of the North’s most interesting and well-respected architectural practices, winning awards and critical acclaim for such diverse projects as the Sitooteries at Belsay Hall, Millfield House Visitor Centre , housing at Grosvenor Road in Jesmond and Woods Pottery offices and studios in the Ouseburn.

Iona Owen has been promoted within the practice to Associate Director as Jenny explains, ’ Iona is a key part of our plans for the future - her attention to detail, creativity and real commitment to people and place make her the right person for this role. We are really excited about where things go from here’.

Iona, originally from Chester has worked with Mosedale Gillatt for the last seven years having joined straight after graduating from Newcastle University and completing her professional qualifications with the practice. During that time she has worked closely on projects such as Elemore Hall School, Spetchells Community Hub and the recently opened Keswick Museum and Art Gallery in Cumbria.

Iona said ‘I always enjoy the range of projects we work on at Mosedale Gillatt, from community buildings and housing through to theatres and combining the contemporary and historic. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a project through from the very first meeting to a living space that is used and enjoyed by the people it was built for’.
