Housebuilder digs in for Nunthorpe in Bloom
David Wilson Homes is supporting the efforts of Nunthorpe residents in their bid to win this year’s Northumbria in Bloom competition.
The housebuilder has donated hundreds of plants to create a colourful display on the Poole Hospital roundabout next to its Grey Towers Village development.
Landscape gardener Kevin Martin planted up four large flowerbeds ahead of a visit by Northumbria in Bloom judges.
Nunthorpe won a Gold Award in the Small Town category in the 2013 competition.
Nunthorpe ward councillor Brenda Thompson said: “We’re very grateful to David Wilson Homes for providing the flowerbeds, which have really brightened up the roundabout.
“There has been great feedback from residents, who appreciate the lovely beds at this key roundabout, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the display helped to impress the judges.”
Fenton Hewitt, Sales Director at David Wilson North East, said: “Wherever we build, we are always keen to establish strong relationships with local communities and so we were delighted to contribute towards this.
“The Nunthorpe in Bloom volunteers put in so much time and hard work to enhance the local environment for the benefit of the community, and we wish them all the best for this year’s competition.”
Grey Towers Village is the first David Wilson Homes development in Middlesbrough and when complete will comprise 295 family homes set around a village green. First residents have already moved in. For more information visit www.dwh.co.uk or call 08448 11 66 22
