Regus opens walk-in business lounge at Sheffield’s Meadowhall Shopping Centre
Regus Express centre offers high-spec meeting space for local retailers and an office-on-the-go for mobile workers
Regus, the global workspace provider, has opened a drop-in business lounge and meeting rooms at Meadowhall Shopping Centre, in Sheffield, catering for local retailers and mobile workers who want to combine work, family life and leisure.
The new Regus Express business lounge at Meadowhall offers a convenient professional workspace with secure wifi, meeting rooms, co-working spaces, private workstations (called ‘Thinkpods’) and complimentary refreshments. People can use the space to work all day, or just touchdown for half an hour to print a document or meet a colleague.
The meeting rooms, which can be booked by the hour, are expected to be heavily used by the hundreds of retailers based in Meadowhall as a convenient and cost-effective location for team and management meetings.
The launch at Meadowhall extends the roll-out of Regus ‘third places’ around the UK, which bridge the gap between the traditional office and home-working. They offer workers the convenience of an on-demand workplace closer to home than the old-fashioned, fixed office, with a better atmosphere and facilities than home or coffee shops.
The fast-growing Regus Express network around Britain already includes motorway service stations; branches of Staples, the office supplies retailer; and Heathrow and Gatwick Airport. Regus is also in discussion with retailers, transport operators, train operators and hotel chains to help make work more convenient.
Darren Pearce, Centre Director for Meadowhall, said: “Meadowhall is delighted to welcome the Regus walk-in business lounge to the Centre. As an organisation we also understand the importance of listening and responding to customers’ changing wants and needs. The Meadowhall Regus business lounge caters for today’s local retailers and mobile workers who want to combine work, family life and leisure. Meadowhall offers the perfect partnership to that - a location well placed for public transport; car parking spaces and a broad range of retail and leisure facilities to those looking for a professional, convenient on-the-go office environment.”
Phil Kemp, Head of Thirdplace at Regus, added: “Regus Express is all about making it possible to work anywhere, so where better to open a business centre than at a major retail centre with over 25 million visitors a year and 12,000 free parking spaces?
“We see this centre serving a mix of users, including the retail tenants of Meadowhall; local home-workers and freelancers looking for a more professional environment; mobile workers such as sales teams; and corporate employees who work remotely for some of the week. Two in five workers in the UK now work away from their main office for at least half the week, and facilities like Regus Express make it easier for them to access the right facilities and do their jobs effectively.”
This is the first opening in a series of three Regus Express deals with shopping centres in the UK, with openings in Chester and Edinburgh expected later this year.
There are two ways to access Regus Express centres:
- Pay-as-you-go access priced at £5 per hour or £10 per day.
- Regus Businessworld membership at £35 per month, which provides drop-in access to the business lounges at each of Regus’ 300 UK locations including Regus Express
