Yorkshire construction high flyers to represent the region in industry awards
A number of Yorkshire based construction companies are celebrating after being recognised as the best in the region, taking home awards in The Constructing Exellence Yorkshire & Humber Awards held at Sheffield City Hall.
Award winners included companies from across Yorkshire including Sheffield, Huddersfield, York, Hull, Halifax, Leeds and Doncaster. The Cubicle Centre in Huddersfield picked up The Best of The Best award and SME of The Year, whilst East Riding Council took home Client of The Year.
The event, which has grown to become one of the most important dates in the industry’s calendar to celebrate the best that the regional built environment sector has to offer, is run by Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber (CEYH) which is delivered via the Centre for Knowledge Exchange (CKE) at Leeds Metropolitan University. The CEYH gathers together key figures in the region to present how they achieve excellence in their work.
Craig Sewell, Director of Branding and Marketing at The Cubicle Centre said: “‘SME of the Year’ in itself was a fantastic surprise, but to win ‘Best of the Best’ on the night has really made the last two years hard work worthwhile. And, we haven’t finished yet. Watch this space.”
Recognising and rewarding the very best of construction innovation & best practice in the region, along with inspiring new ideas and facilitating knowledge sharing, The Constructing Excellence Awards is multi-faceted. It showcases shortlisted organisations and individuals who will then go on to represent Yorkshire and the Humber at the National Constructing Excellence Awards in London in Autumn and Sheffield has a strong contingent in the shortlist.
’Claire Bowles, Regional Director, Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber said:“The popularity and quality of submissions this year has been second to none reflecting an upturn in our regional construction sector. We wish all of the winners the best of luck in the national finals in London in November.”
The evening included a key note presentation from government Chief Construction Advisor, Peter Hansford, and the awards were compered by feisty Capital Breakfast DJ JoJo Kelly. The event also featured a networking drinks reception and three course gourmet meal. The event was sponsored by Yorkshire based Kier Group.
Kier Regional Director, Phil Oades, said: “Kier is proud to have supported the Constructing Excellence in Yorkshire and Humber Awards and to have helped celebrate the great talent and innovative ideas coming out of our local area.
“Our work in Sheffield and across Yorkshire shows us first-hand the importance of the construction industry in the region and the economic investment it generates. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with all the winners at the ceremony.”
