York connectivity firm doubles team and expands office after growth
York Data Services Ltd. (YDS) is moving to new, larger premises on Innovation Close to accommodate its growing team which has doubled in size in just the last 2 years.
The company was established in 2003 and its very first contract was to provide connectivity and data services to the Science Parks’ new IT Centre building.
It was subsequently appointed as the official supplier of these services to the whole of York Science Park and its customer base then developed to include other business parks and organisations with multiple occupancy buildings and sites in York, North Yorkshire, Leeds, Manchester and now London.
Since its launch, it has also expanded its services to offer data centre server hosting, business IT support, VoIP telephony and has grown year-on-year to be one of Yorkshire’s leading business Internet Service Providers.
In 2009 YDS made a significant investment in its infrastructure and became a Tier 2 provider, which gave it the resources and resiliency necessary to serve customers such as Thomson Reuters, for whom 24/7 access to the internet is essential.
Mark Fordyce, managing director of York Data Services Ltd. said: “We first chose to base ourselves at York Science Park as it was a vibrant, up and coming area for the bioscience and technology sectors and offered a prestigious, easily accessible location for us to launch the company from.
“It has proved a great place for us to be and has become synonymous with our business.
“We pride ourselves on being a national company which offers a local service, and as we invest further in the company’s growth it makes sense for us to continue to be based here.
“We are delighted to be moving to our new, larger offices on Innovation Close, which will give us a great platform from which to support our growing client base and build our business, alongside maintaining the great relationships we have with other residents on York Science Park and beyond”
Tracey Smith, managing director, York Science Park commented: “York Data Services is one of the great success stories of York Science Park and we are very happy that they have chosen to stay on the Science Park as they continue to expand.
“They are renowned for being at the forefront of their field in the provision of data services and their business has grown as we have.
“They provide our residents with a resilient service and it’s great to acknowledge their success as they grow their business base nationally.”
