Life’s a beach for pupils
Youngsters from Grasmere Academy in Killingworth were given a helping a hand by Capita in Children North East’s annual sandcastle challenge.
More than 1,800 school children from across the region took part in the event at Sandhaven Beach on Friday, July 4. Each school was matched with a ‘professional’ who worked with them to discuss their ideas then joins them on the beach on the day of the challenge.
Capita, the largest consultancy provider in the North East, supported Grasmere Academy, creating a pair of Adidas running trainers for this year’s theme Run, Run, Run - The Great North Run Million.
Christine Brennan, Capita business development manager, said: “It was great fun working with the children of Grasmere Academy helping them create their ideas, drawing visuals of what the final sandcastle could look like and also helping produce items to help them on the day. Unfortunately we didn’t win but the children really enjoyed the day and we will definitely be back next year.”
