MD Productions secures substantial funding from The Morgan Foundation
MD Productions (CIC), the Liverpool-based community interest company, has been awarded £30,000 from The Morgan Foundation.
MD Productions is led by the enigmatic Miguel Doforo. So far, the company has seen more than 200 performers receive support and training.
The award money will help the CIC expand its operations more widely across Liverpool City Region and will also be used to invest in community projects such as the ground-breaking Emotions Project. This was launched last year to give young people with raw talent the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the industry.
Miguel Doforo, Director of MD Productions, said:
“This funding award represents a major acknowledgement of the impact we are making in young people’s lives.
“Following on from a rigorous application process, I then had a meeting with Jane Harris from the Foundation who immediately connected with the projects. I told her my own story and felt straight away that she really believed in our vision for MD Productions.
“This then led to a visit from the Morgan Foundation’s trustees who met with three of our peer mentors who shared how MD Productions’ values and the positive outcomes had impacted on them.”
The Morgan Foundation was created in 2001 by businessman Steve Morgan OBE, founder and Chairman of Redrow plc, Chairman of the Bridgemere Group of Companies and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC. Its purpose is to support charities across North Wales, Merseyside, West Cheshire and North Shropshire.
Jane Harris, administrator at The Morgan Foundation, said:
“We were so impressed by Miguel and the team at MD Productions and the tireless work they are carrying out to nurture young talent in the region.
“Initiatives like the Emotions Project are vitally important in ending gang crime and reducing anti social behaviour as they give youngsters the opportunity and support that they are sometimes lacking elsewhere in their lives. In fact, the outcomes that MD Productions has already achieved in the Liverpool City Region are staggering.
“It is great to be able to help MD Productions achieve its long term goals and continue to expand opportunities and life choices for young people in the region.”
