Planning for 66 homes in Hoylandswaine submitted in effort to boost economy by more than £1million

David Wilson Homes has submitted a full planning application for up to 66 high quality new homes to be built in the village of Hoylandswaine, near Penistone in South Yorkshire.

A public consultation was held in January 2014, with more than 100 people attending to discuss the new development. David Wilson Homes has worked closely with the council and local community to ensure the development benefits Hoylandswaine.

If approved, the 66 dwelling development will create and sustain 55 direct construction jobs, produce £550,000 in New Homes Bonus payments to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and pave the way for significant inward private sector investment of more than £6,500,000.

The development would also provide 25% affordable housing provision, to be formally agreed during the planning process, in order to meet the needs of local people.

A representative from David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented:

“We believe that this development will produce significant benefits for Hoylandswaine and prove to be a major boost to the local economy.

“We estimate the construction of the homes will create almost 55 full-time construction jobs and the knock-on effects will create and support over 63 jobs in the supply chain.

“Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council will receive £550,000 in New Homes Bonus, over £90,000 in council tax revenues and the development will boost the local economy to the tune of over £1,000,000 a year.”
