Liverpool FC extends tourism offer

Liverpool Football Club today announced the launch of its very own open top bus tour, which will see the Club having a direct transport route from Liverpool City Centre up to Anfield Stadium.

The Liverpool FC City Bus will give tourists, as well as locals, the chance to take a tour of the city before heading up to the home of the Reds, where there’s an opportunity to go on a stadium tour, visit the Official Story of LFC, the Club’s new interactive museum, and shop in the Anfield branch of the LFC store. All passengers can also take advantage of the 10% discount off food and 2 for 1 cocktails in the stadium’s Boot Room Sports Café.

Starting at the Albert Dock or Pier Head, the route takes in some of the city centre’s most historical sites, such as the famous Liver Buildings and Liverpool War Museum, before making its way up to Anfield and the surrounding areas, enjoying a short stop off at one of the best vantage points of the city and beyond. Having taken in everything there is on offer at the home of the Reds, passengers can then hop back on the bus to make the return trip into the city.

Running every hour, each journey is brought to life by an informative and knowledgeable tour guide who can offer tourists and locals alike a history of the Club as well as the city itself.

Commenting on the new service, Tom Cassidy, Liverpool FC’s Commercial Tourism Manager said: “LFC has over 580 million followers across the world, so when we have visiting fans come to the city, we want to be able to offer them first-class facilities and services.

“Following last year’s launch of our brand new interactive museum at Anfield, this new LFC bus tour service offers visitors the chance of getting a taste of the city where their team is based, as well as offering an easy connection from the stadium to the key historical sites in the centre.”

Ann Meek, Director of Maghull Coaches, the company behind the successful City Explorer Open Top Bus and partner of the LFC Open Top Tour Bus, commented on the launch: “As an already established business in this industry, we’ve worked with LFC to create not only a transport connection between the city and Anfield, but a quality experience in its own right.”

Commenting on the service, which links the popular Albert Dock area to the home of the Reds, Peter Cronin, Marketing and Business Development Director at Albert Dock Liverpool, added: “Albert Dock welcomes over 5.5 million visitors each year and we certainly feel LFC’s national and international visitor impact when a home game is on, so it is fantastic to be able to work with the Liverpool FC City Bus to provide a link directly to Anfield from the Dock.”

Tickets are just £5 and can be purchased in advance at www.liverpoolfc.com/tours, on the day at the bus or via all tourist outlets in Liverpool city centre.
