Le Tour proves simply perfect business boost for Yorkshire events’ expert

An award-winning North Yorkshire events’ company is celebrating its third and most successful year in business thanks to its involvement with Yorkshire’s Grand Depart.

Harrogate-based Simply Bows and Chair Covers are specialists in high quality table and chair linen.

Owner, Alexandra Stead, worked with Welcome to Yorkshire to dress a number of prestigious events associated with Le Tour, including the dinner at Leeds Town Hall to announce the route, the event at Ripon Cathedral to mark 100 days before the official start of Le Grand Depart and the high profile ‘Vive Le Tour’ dinner at the Royal Hall in Harrogate which took place the weekend of the Le Tour itself.

Alexandra, who runs Simply Bows and Chair Covers across Yorkshire, dressed over 1000 chairs for the high profile events using sashes specially-designed by the company in Le Tour colours.

As a result of the now famous events, which were attended by sports personalities, MPs and French and British dignitaries, Simply Bows and Chair Covers in Harrogate has received a number of new enquiries and is hoping to work on further high profile sporting events coming to the region.

Alexandra Stead established Simply Bows and Chair Covers in Harrogate in 2011 and, since then, the franchised company has secured contracts with prestigious organisations such as Welcome to Yorkshire and works with leading venues such as Goldsborough Hall, Rudding Park, Wetherby Racecourse, Allerton Castle and a range of hotels across Yorkshire.

Alexandra said: “Le Grand Depart was just a wonderful occasion for the whole of the region, not just as a business who was involved but also as a very proud Yorkshire resident. I was incredibly pleased to be able to work at these high profile dinners and events which have received global media coverage.”

Simply Bows and Chair Covers was established by Sarah Pittendrigh in 2008 and has just completed its most successful year to date. Its franchise network- which operates from Aberdeen, down to South Wales and into Essex- has completed over 1500 weddings and events and has fitted more than 120,000 chair covers within the last five years.

The company has won over 14 business awards, including the coveted British Chamber of Commerce Most Promising New Business accolade in 2012 and accolades such as the Franchise Marketing Awards ‘Best Website’ finalist, second only to McDonalds, 2012 Newcomer of the Year at the North East Business Awards and Best Small Business in North East Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. The company has also been picked out by Dragons Den, Theo Paphitis, as part of his #SBS – a competition he runs on twitter to identify promising small businesses.
