Yorkshire site managers win awards in national housebuilding competition

Seven site managers working for regional housebuilder Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, in Yorkshire have scooped prestigious awards in a national competition to find the best-run building sites in Britain.

Ben Waines at Aspire in Hull as well as Simon Allerston at The Sidings, on Calvert Lane in Hull, gained official recognition for the excellence of which they run their developments, with a Pride in the Job Quality Award. Andrew Bentley at Serenity in Doncaster and Steve Sharp at Pembridge Park in Doncaster and Jo Hopkins at The Tannery in Strensall were also recognised for their excellence in East Yorkshire.

From West Yorkshire, Ade Arnold from the Meadow Walk development in Brampton Bierlow alongside Phil Bowser from The Edge development in Waverley, outside Rotherham, received Pride in the Job Quality Awards.

The seven winners were joined by site managers working for Barratt Group across the UK, which have scooped 90 awards for quality workmanship.

A Barratt spokesperson, commented: “The official recognition of the jobs which our winning site managers are doing, shows that Barratt Developments is building some of the best quality homes in the country. The site manager plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality new homes and that is why we are so delighted with these two national awards. This is truly an outstanding result and one which should inspire confidence in our buyers.”

The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body National House-Building Council (NHBC) carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.

Almost 15,000 site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety.

The seven site managers will now go forward to the final round of the competition, which will select the best site manager in Britain.
