Gosforth’s World Language School reports 500% growth
After just six months at Gosforth’s Regent Centre, the World Language School has taken a 6,500 sq ft floor in Arden House, representing an expansion of over 500% in just six months.
Taking an initial suite of 1,250 sq ft in February, the WLS has been attracting more students to come to Newcastle from a number of new countries such as Turkey, Brazil and Angola with Portugal returning as a client in addition to a number of other European countries such as Austria and Spain already sending students.
Paulo Cardoso, managing director of the World Language School, which has its headquarters in Peterborough, says the initial purpose of the school was to supply just general English courses. “Today we offer a variety of courses to our students, such as IT, Study Holidays and European Language courses,” explains Cardoso.
He says: “Connectivity through Newcastle International’s direct flights with southern European countries is extremely important as are connections through Edinburgh airport. We are getting some really good responses to our marketing and expect to be even busier as we focus on customer service and being competitive on price.”
WLS uses nearly 50 host families close to Regent Centre for students. “These are very good as at the end of the day we want happy students here,” adds Cardoso. “We take groups of students who live with our host families for the duration of their stay so having options to see countryside and an attractive city is important to us. They could stay in the area from one week up to four weeks. Newcastle is therefore an ideal location with options to travel within the region and outside it such as to York, Durham and Edinburgh. It is very convenient.”
“Our main strength is focusing on our students and taking an individual approach to their needs. We maintain our family values and offer comprehensive support to our students. The ability to learn a new language isn’t just the reading and writing, but also ability to embrace a new culture.”
