NCG finalises merger with Kidderminster College

NCG has complete its merger with Kidderminster College, following months of work and planning as the college joins the expanding national educational charity.

The not-for-profit organisation, which is based at Newcastle College, is one of the largest education, training and employability organisations in the UK, with a turnover of £186million.

The College announced earlier this year it was seeking a suitable partner and carefully evaluated each of them before deciding on NCG. The proposals also received widespread support during public consultation.

Joe Docherty, chief executive of NCG, said: “This is an exciting time for us having Kidderminster College on board as part of NCG. We already have a strong presence in the West Midlands and this will complement that superbly.

“Having the experience and back up of a national training group behind them will also help secure their future. Kidderminster College will continue to serve its local community and it is our clear goal to help expand and diversify the current offer for the benefit of learners and businesses in the region.”

NCG now manages four colleges – three of them with a broad Further Education offer, Newcastle College in the North East, West Lancashire College in Skelmersdale and Kidderminster College in the West Midlands, plus Newcastle Sixth Form College specialising in A-level provision.

NCG also runs Intraining, an apprenticeship and employability training company based in Sheffield, and Rathbone, a national voluntary youth sector organisation and registered charity which works with 14-24 year olds previously not in education, employment and training.
