Industrial deals create full occupancy at Gateway West

Chartered surveyors Sanderson Weatherall have completed lettings on the final three units on Newcastle’s Gateway West business park.

The lettings on behalf of the landlords CBRE Investors, to growing export business Equine Products UK Ltd and Vets Direct, mean the entire 181,538 sq ft industrial scheme is fully occupied.

Gateway West forms part of the established Newburn Riverside Business Park, a successful commercial development located adjacent to the A1 just to the West of Newcastle City Centre.

Richard Scott, Partner at Sanderson Weatherall in Newcastle, said: “The units at Gateway West are the highest specification in the region, constructed to BREEAM excellent standards and provide quality industrial accommodation.

“This is reflected by the levels of interest we have had, and from the fact that the development is now full.

“The deals to Equine Products and Vets Direct are a testament to the hard work done by both ourselves and our joint agents GVA to get the scheme fully occupied in a challenging market.”

Equine Products, a manufacturer and distributor of horse supplements, is looking to use the space to expand its operations and intends to have its entire business based in the new site within six months.

General manager Enda Kelly said: “Gateway West is ideal for us.

“Around 60% of our business is done in international markets and the new offices’ proximity to Newcastle Airport, along with how great it looks, makes it an excellent site from which we can showcase our operations to clients old and new from around the world.

“It also allows us to expand from our current 11 staff, with the aim of increasing that with the addition of new sales staff with specialist equestrian knowledge in the next couple of months.”

The company had previously occupied three units at Newburn Haugh Industrial Estate, one of which it will initially retain for manufacturing, before transferring that activity into Gateway West, alongside its office and distribution operations.
