Preston HR consultant is finalist in business awards

An independent HR Consultant from Preston has been shortlisted in this year’s EVA awards (Enterprise for Vision Awards).

Tracey Murphy, from Sarah Booth HR, is up for the Professional Services award. Tracey spent 12 years in HR in senior roles for major insurance companies.

During this time she also juggled studying for a degree and being a full time mum. In January 2012 she took the plunge to set up her own HR business as an independent consultant, after being made redundant.

Her business has grown considerably over the last two years.

She now works for a range of clients across all sectors and sizes, providing part-time HR Director services to owner/manager businesses and their Board of Directors as well as assisting small businesses with everything from employment contracts, disputes, and staff handbooks to training and psychometric profiling.

She has recently strengthened her business with the acquisition of established HR consultancy Sarah Booth HR.

Ms Murphy said: “I’m overwhelmed and incredibly grateful to have been invited to be in the final six in this category.

“I would like to think that my story tells one of a brave and opportunistic female entrepreneur whose story might even inspire other women, who find themselves redundant to consider taking the leap into self-employment. With a clear plan, and the belief, you can succeed!”

The Enterprise Vision Awards have been created to specifically recognise women in The North West who are inspiring others by successfully running their own businesses. The awards ceremony takes place on 26 September.
