Clarke Energy signs deal in Algeria
Clarke Energy, a leading supplier of specialist power generation equipment, has secured its first power plant sale in Algeria. The firm has its UK headquarters at Knowsley on Merseyside.
Algeria has enormous gas reserves and has historically utilised large gas turbines for generating power or diesel fuelled generators in more remote locations.
In a separate deal Clarke Energy has also secured its first sales for a 1MW natural gas-fuelled captive power plant at Plastpaper’s industrial plastic goods production facility in the city of Oran.
The project will showcase how GE’s gas engines are a cost-effective alternative to diesel generators for grid support and industrial energy security. This will operate generating stable reliable electricity for the facility and will prevent micro disturbances from the local electricity grid affecting the plastics extrusion process.
Clarke Energy’s Didier Lartigue said: “We are delighted to have secured our first order in Algeria. This project will demonstrate the reliability and efficiency of gas-fuelled distributed generation in the Algerian market”.
Clarke Energy has been operating in Algeria since 2012.
Clarke Energy is a specialist in the engineering design, installation and long term maintenance of GE’s Jenbacher gas engines in the gas to power generation industry.
The company operates in 16 countries with some 950 staff and has over 4,000MW of Jenbacher gas generation capacity in its operational areas.
Clarke Energy has also participated in a number of high-level trade delegations facilitated by UKTI, including a visit by the Sonelgaz CEO to the Infinis’ landfill gas power plant at Calvert; a UK Algeria Showcase in 2013
