Coombe Abbey Hotel enjoys business boom with rise in revenue and occupancy rates reported

A Warwickshire hotel has reported record increases in revenue and occupancy rates.

Coombe Abbey Hotel, operated by No Ordinary Hotels, has seen revenue increase by 18 per cent for the first half of the year, adding to the 15 per cent revenue rise achieved last year.

The signs remain positive across the business with occupancy rates increasing to a new high of 73 per cent, and on course to increase further to 75 per cent by the end of the year.

The boost in revenue and occupancy rates at the 119-bedroom hotel has been accompanied by an increase in staff numbers from 212 employees in 2012 to 249 employees in 2014 - with the biggest additions coming in the food and drink production teams at the hotel.

Fraser Doyne-Ditmas, Operations Manager at Coombe Abbey Hotel, said “We are delighted to be able to report such as strong, robust business performance from Coombe Abbey Hotel.

“The revenue rises and increases in occupancy rates are above the current industry averages, as we continue to build upon the successes achieved within the past few years.

“We are in a very convenient location and our conference and corporate business is thriving as the regional economy goes from strength to strength.

“New innovations such as the marquee we had installed last year have also helped boost our fortunes and further development opportunities are being investigated.”

Coombe Abbey together with Lumley Castle, it’s sister hotel in Durham, hosts around 400 weddings annually between the two venues.

Coombe Abbey Hotel’s status as one of the UK’s leading venues for meetings and venues was recently confirmed as it received Highly Commended in the VenueVerdict Accreditation Programme - the only industry accreditation scheme based entirely on customer feedback ratings for meetings and events.

Built originally as a Cistercian Abbey in the 12th century, the four-star country house hotel is set in 500 acres of parkland, and overlooks a tranquil lake and formal gardens.
