Housebuilder raises £5,505 for Sir Bobby Robson Foundation
STAFF at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North East achieved their goal with the presentation of a cheque for £5,505 to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
They nominated the foundation as their charity of the year and raised cash through events including an awards night for local subcontractors, a family fun day, sponsored cycle ride and dress down days.
Finance Director Scott Martin handed over the cheque to Sir Bobby’s widow, Lady Elsie.
He said: “Our staff voted for the foundation to be their special charity and everyone has put in a terrific effort to raise so much for this very worthwhile cause. It’s a great result.”
Lady Elsie said: “We’re grateful to everyone at Barratt and David Wilson Homes for their enthusiastic support this year.
“It was a pleasure to meet Scott and hear all about the fundraising activities which have taken place. To have raised this much is wonderful and we will ensure the money is put to the best possible use.”
Sir Bobby Robson launched the foundation in 2008 to help find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer – including the clinical trials of new drugs.
It funds projects that directly benefit patients from across the North East and Cumbria and which contribute significantly to international efforts and research into fighting cancer.
