Export event hailed a great success

My Export Hub, alongside Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) hosted an event offering delegates an exclusive insight into exporting success.

The event was part of the Leeds City Region We Are International campaign and included a delegation of 15 Chinese business representatives. The group attended the free event on Friday 25th July at the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre, Huddersfield, with more than 60 other local business people in attendance.

It provided the chance to hear from UKTI on opportunities for UK businesses, funding streams and the support available to help organisations trade internationally.

The lunchtime event presented a great opportunity for networking with experts and advisors, providing invaluable hints and tips in international trade.

Local success stories Graham Capell and Richard Paxman of member companies Wesco and Paxman Coolers respectively, gave an insight into their export journey.

Dr Richard Smith gave an overview on the We are International campaign run by Leeds City Region, followed by Susan Waterson from UKTI discussing opportunities for UK businesses and the support available for exporters.

Chamber Executive Director Andrew Choi who sat on the panel said: “I was proud to see so many local exporters joined together to promote local international trade in the presence of the Chinese delegation, UKTI - Yorkshire, Barry Sheerman MP and others.

“I was particularly pleased that the success stories selected this time for the Leeds City Region We are International campaign were those of Mid Yorkshire Chamber members, Paxman Coolers and Wesco Aircraft and I think that the advice offered was invaluable. As always, we’re here to support both our local companies and exporters across the whole of the region through MY Export Hub.”
