Teesside shipping association expands with funding from Barclays
Tees Licensed Foyboatmen’s Association Limited today announced plans to new premises with funding from Barclays.
The firm, which was previously located at rented premises at Kinkerdale Road, Teesport, Grangetown, has recently relocated to new commercial premises at Graving Dock, Dockside Road, Middlesbrough.
The company, which currently employs 50 people in the region, provides mooring services to a range of ships in Teesport and the team is on call 24/7.
Celebrating 50 years in business, the team has safely and efficiently moored everything from super tankers through to car ferries.
Wilf Farren, a Foyboatman for 43 years said: “We operated from our old premises for 50 years but decided the time was right to invest in the business and relocate adjacent to the River Tees - enabling us to increase the mooring service we already provide.
“The funding means we now have larger premises with more storage together with better office and parking facilities.”
“There is a real sense of optimism around Teesport at present with PD Ports working hard to bring new customers to the River Tees and SSI producing steel again in the Tees Valley. Our company is planning to purchase a new boat within the next 12 months if the business continues to grow”
