Care UK sponsors school sports day
Blaydon West Primary School received a boost from its neighbours at Care UK’s Hadrian House care home in Blaydon on Tyne, in the form of a £150 towards the school’s annual Sports Day.
Children from Reception through to Year Six took part in the Sports Day; and the funds from Care UK helped to cover the cost of transporting the children to and from Blaydon Primary Care and Leisure Centre for the event, as well as prizes and medals. Care UK also provided goody bags which were handed out to race winners and runners-up.
Care UK’s Support Manager at Hadrian House, Samantha Rogan, said: “The team at Hadrian House is keen to forge links with the local community and to get to know our neighbours. We already have a fantastic relationship with Blaydon West Primary School – the children have visited us in the past – and we wanted to build on this by lending a helping hand with this year’s Sports Day.”
Mrs Watson, head teacher of Blaydon West Primary School, added: “We were thrilled to receive the donation towards the school’s Sports Day from Care UK and the funds certainly helped with the event’s smooth running.
“The Sports Day is a highlight in the school’s calendar and it creates a lot of excitement among the children. This year’s activities did not disappoint – the sun shone and the event was a great success. We now look forward to continuing our relationship with Hadrian House.”
Situated on Garden Street in Blaydon-on-Tyne in Gateshead, Hadrian House is a modern, propose-built care home providing residential and respite care for older people, including those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
Care UK runs 113 care homes and also provides care for thousands of people living in their own homes.
