Raindance Film Festival announces BFI, Telegraph Media Group and The May Fair Hotel as official partners

Raindance Film Festival today announced three new partnerships for the 22nd edition of the festival, which takes place from the 24th September – 5th October 2014 in London.

Europe’s leading independent film festival will receive funding from the British Film Institute as it recognises Raindance’s continued commitment to supporting and celebrating the work of the independent film industry.

The Telegraph Media Group will also support Raindance by providing exclusive independent content to its readers as part of its deal.

As official hotel partner, The May Fair Hotel, which has a history of supporting the film industry, will also be hosting the Raindance Film Festival Awards.

Vue Entertainment also continues its partnership with Raindance for its second year, with the festival taking place at Vue Piccadilly, London and opening and closing night films screening at Vue West End, Leicester Square.

Elliot Grove, Raindance founder, comments: “Raindance seeks to support and celebrate the work of independent, new and alternative filmmakers - giving audiences the chance to discover something new and filmmakers the opportunity to be discovered. It’s great to have the backing of the BFI, Telegraph Media Group and The May Fair Hotel to help us continue to achieve this.”

Sarah-Jane Meredith, UK Wide Manager, BFI said: “Through the Film Festival Fund, the BFI encourages people to build a life-long relationship with a broad range of film, ensuring that film culture can be accessed and enjoyed by everyone across the UK. The panel supported Raindance for a number of reasons, not least its commitment to celebrating the best of British film and independent film-making from around the world, programming screenings which are enjoyed by a growing numbers of audiences year on year, from right across the UK.

Denise Parkinson, Entertainment Director Global and UK, Telegraph Media Group comments: “Telegraph Media Group is thrilled to be a partner of the 22nd Raindance Film Festival. Raindance has been a guiding light for independent films since 1992, and this partnership reflects the commitment that Telegraph Media Group gives to supporting and promoting film. With this partnership we will bring exclusive independent content to an international stage and help inspire and empower independent filmmakers”

Judith West, Director of Partnerships, Edwardian Group, London adds: “The May Fair Hotel has the film industry in its DNA , having been formerly owned by the founders of the famous New Elstree Studios . Today, The May Fair is still synonymous with the film and entertainment industry. Proud to hold the status of Official Hotel of the BFI’s London Film Festival and be the host to many major London film premiers, it was a natural progression for us to support the Raindance Film Festival, based as it is in the heart of London and dedicated to fostering and promoting the independent film industry, which we proudly do for the first time in 2014.”

Joanne Webb, Marketing and Sales Director Vue Entertainment comments: “Vue Entertainment is thrilled to once again be supporting Raindance Film Festival at our site in Piccadilly, London. We here at Vue thrive on providing our guests with a wide variety of content programming, and fully support Raindance for bringing thought provoking independent cinema offerings to a wider market”
