Experienced Chris starts new role at Persimmon Homes
A planning expert with more than 20 years of experience in the industry is hoping to “leave a legacy” after taking on a new role at Persimmon Homes.
Chris Kershaw has worked in land acquisition in the North West for the last two decades. The 43-year-old recently took the next step in his career by becoming land director at Persimmon Homes Lancashire.
Chris, who lives in Formby, in Merseyside, said: “I am delighted to have joined a company with strong financial strength. Persimmon Homes is one of the largest developers in the country and has a really strong reputation.
“I will be searching for short, medium and long term opportunities. I like what I do because you leave a legacy. You are creating something which will stand the test of time.
“The greatest satisfaction is seeing people moving into the houses. It’s something which you might have been working on for years and you see the concept move through to fruition.”
Chris, who achieved a planning degree at Manchester University, has seen plenty of ups and downs in the industry.
“I started my career at the end of the last recession in 1994,” he said. “There have been peaks and troughs – and this is one of the really exciting times to be involved in the industry.
“There is a lot more legislation now about where you can and can’t build. In my job I’ve got to keep abreast of it all and keep a knowledge of the market area.”
Mark Cook, managing director of Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “Chris has a wealth of experience working for some of the big names in the industry. We are really pleased to have him as part of the team at Persimmon.
“He will be looking for the best opportunities in the area and he is already making his mark.”
There are a host of new developments which are either in the pipeline or have been recently completed in the Lancashire area, including Harbour Village in Fleetwood, Pear Tree Gardens in Walton-le-Dale, Laburnum Walk in Blackburn and Shawbrook in Chorley.
