Big Love Sistas set to sing themselves back to wellbeing

Big Love Sista is set to launch a vibrant community choir that will rival Sista Act!

Known for delivering high-profile creative projects, with for example its groundbreaking exhibition at Tate Liverpool - the social enterprise is launching a choir to add to its portfolio of empowering offerings.

The inspirational social initiative will invite ‘sistas’ from across the North West to get the rhythm and harmony flowing, whilst building a sense of community with women who often feel isolated.

Commencing on Monday, August 18, a series of choir rehearsals will take place every Monday afternoon at Our Place in Huyton between 12-1pm, or on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-8:35pm at the Gostin Buildings in Liverpool City Centre.

Creative Therapist and Founder of Big Love Sista, Clare Campbell said: “We are excited to start our choir rehearsals, which are aimed at women who are recovering from difficult life situations. Also, I am delighted that our choir has interest from leading CEOs in the region, who are coming to sing away their stress. Not only will participants learn brilliant uplifting songs but they will form friendships that will be life changing.

“When I was recovering from a breakdown, it was through joining a choir that enabled me to de-stress. Therefore, I want to provide a welcoming safe haven for other women in the community.

“We have already had bookings to perform at major events in the city, which gives us something to work towards. It will also raise the profile of our lovely organisation and allow us to carry on our unique and creative work.”

In addition to the community choir, Clare and the team at Big Love Sista have set up a varied array of global projects to enable the mass gathering of inspirational women. The objectives of the initiatives are to restore the lives of women who are suffering from mental health issues or personal struggles, via creative means.

Clare added: “After combating my own difficulties through the healing power of creativity, I have always had a burning desire to set up numerous community projects for women seeking help.

“From the choir to arts exhibitions, to festivals and friendship circles, the overall aim is to boost community spirit amongst the women, as well as their self-esteem.”

The choir rehearsals will take place every Monday between 12-1pm at Our Place in Huyton and each Tuesday from 7:30-8:35pm at the Gostin Buildings on Hanover Street. A donation of up to £5 is suggested to cover operational costs.
