Unbeatable Atlas Cloud one of most secure providers in UK

Leading cloud computing company Atlas Cloud has soared ahead of its rivals to become officially one of the most secure providers in the country.

The company, with offices in Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield and London, is among the first to be awarded a new version of the ISO 27001, an internationally recognised framework for information management and the highest achievement in security that an organisation can obtain.

The company’s founder and Chief Operating Officer Phil Richardson, who led the ISO application, said it sets the Atlas cloud apart from its rivals.

“All our hard work and our insistence on the highest standards has been worth it with this award.

“Our drive to be the market leader in terms of security is now clear for all to see. There are only a handful of hosted desktop solutions in the country that can say they are within touching distance of what we are doing.”

ISO 27001 2013 is a major update of the 2005 certificate usually held by most large firms and data centres. The 2013 version held by only a handful of firms is much more demanding, investigating areas such as information security management systems and how companies outsource some services.

Atlas Cloud had every part of its operation thoroughly checked to satisfy a long list of requirements, from how their security is organised to cryptography, communications, incident management, HR and business continuity.

“Security is still the number one concern for potential clients who are handing their data over to another company,” said Phil.

“Our data centres already have ISO 27001 and now with the 2013 upgrade, Atlas Cloud itself has had its data handling and processes put through the most rigorous testing and we’ve passed with flying colours.”

The new benchmark for security will be welcomed by financial and legal firms who have to demonstrate complete security for highly sensitive data and will be in demand as a key part of security audits.

Atlas Cloud CEO Pete Watson praised his team’s success: “Our clients want to know they can have confidence in the security of their data. Getting the ISO award answers that concern in the best possible way.

“There is no higher standard we could set and I am delighted for our team and our clients.”

One Atlas Cloud client that will benefit directly from the ISO achievement is HD Decisions, a Nottingham-based firm which develops data and technology products for the financial services market.

It is best known for developing the widely-used ‘Apply with Confidence’ web tool which ensures consumers are able to see which products they are most likely to get accepted for.

Operations Director Gary Buxton said: “We deal with market-leading clients in the financial sector who insist on unimpeachable security for their data.

“There can be no room for error and the ISO certification Atlas Cloud has received is exactly what more and more firms will be demanding.

“There has to be a trust and confidence throughout our operation and Atlas Cloud’s success has just added to that.

“It’s great news for all of us and will help us make sure we continue to have the highest security for our clients”
