Spinning its way to success for Royal Quays Cycle Centre

Cycling enthusiasts are in a spin as Land Rover bikes has rebranded to become Royal Quays Cycle Centre and relocated to a larger store within the centre, with the aim of greatly enhancing the range of products and services it offers customers.

The shop has more than doubled the number of bikes that are on display and has diversified to include a workshop offering free-onsite bike checks during the summer months, plus maintenance and repair work.

It features a range of brands that vary from city, mountain and trekking bikes that are suitable for small children, through to experienced cyclists, alongside accessories and clothing.

Store manager, Jack Webb, said: “We rebranded to become Royal Quays Cycle Centre to primarily enhance our offering for our customers. We wanted to move away from what at times felt more like a showroom to a store that you can now bring your bike into for health checks and on-site maintenance work or advice and we have a full workshop facility to provide this.

“We still have all the Land Rover and Jaguar memorabilia plus a whole lot more! We have also developed our cycling clothing offering – providing attire for all seasons.

“We have three full-time employees working within the store, our apprentice successfully passed his qualifications and has become a full time employee. We are currently looking to bring in potentially two new apprentices who can learn the skills of the trade.

“The new store is proving to be a big success, footfall is up, we have over twice the space of the last store and the Land Rover brand is still very much incorporated into the store, we just have more brands for our customers to choose from.

“The summer has certainly proved to be a very busy period for us, it may be that the Tour de France, Yorkshire route, has inspired people to get out on their bikes!”

Royal Quays Centre Manager, Judith Ramshaw, said: “The new offering at Royal Quays Cycle Centre is working very well. We are pleased to see that footfall has risen and that customers are enjoying the varied range of bikes, clothing and memorabilia on offer to them.

“The workshop is a great addition to both the store and customers who can benefit from advice and, or, repair work whilst they are on-site.”

Royal Quays has 50 stores which employ around 500 staff, making it an important employment hub for the North Tyneside area.

It is home to a number of top brands offering up to 60% off RRP such as Marks & Spencer Outlet, Nike Factory Store, Gap Outlet, Clarks Outlet, Next Clearance, Chapelle Jewellery and Mountain Warehouse, along with a vast range of local, independent retailers specialising in areas such as sport, fashion, jewellery, music and electrical items.

As well as attracting famous brands, since it was opened in 1996, Royal Quays has achieved great success in assisting local retailers looking to get to the next stage of their development.

Packages include competitive and flexible rent agreements that can be linked to store performance as well as expert advice from the on-site management team on marketing, shop design, presentation and sales.
