Pocket App celebrates 200th mobile app development milestone and supports Action for Children’s charity sleep-out event

Pocket App, the UK’s largest independent app developer, is celebrating the development and launch of its 200th development project. This latest mobile app has been created to support Byte Night, Action for Children’s national fundraising sleep-out event. Every year thousands of individuals and teams from the technology and business sectors give up their beds for one night to help change young people’s lives.

The Byte Night mobile app has been created using Pocket App’s customisable event management product called Pocket Events, an easy to deploy reskinable product which is available on iOS and Android, with Windows Phone 8 coming shortly. Using the Pocket Events app, Pocket App has created mobile apps for each event including location, fund-raising targets, running order, links to on-the-night auction and general sleepover information.

Paul Swaddle, CEO of Pocket App said: “Byte Night is a cause that’s close to my heart and I’ve taken part in the charity sleep-outs since 2009. I’ll be In Reading again this year and welcome all fellow techies to join me – after all, as an industry, it’s our very own £1 million charity event – we should all be there! Given our reliance on smartphones, it makes perfect sense to have all the information in one easy to access app – that’s simple to update too.”

This year’s Byte Night sleep-out takes place on Friday October 3rd at eight locations across the UK including Belfast, Cambridge, Edinburgh, London, Birmingham, Salford, Bristol and Reading.

Byte Night raises money for Action for Children services that work with young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. This year the charity hopes to raise a total of £1.3 million at eight simultaneous sleep outs across the UK.
