SCX faces up to the challenge for charity

Steep hills, punctures and floods could not stop the cyclists from the SCX Group during the latest SCX Spinners Hills & Valleys Charity Cycle Challenge.

The challenge was for two teams of riders – a team of six road cyclists and eight mountain bikers – to ride back to the SCX Sheffield head office from two separate locations. The road riders completed their 180 miles from Wales in two days with the mountain bikers riding 80 rugged miles of the Peaks District and the Pennine Bridleway in the same time.

This year the SCX Spinners were riding for the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and The Katie Piper Foundation which makes life easier for people living with scars and burns.

Simon Eastwood, SCX Group Managing Director, was full of praise for the SCX Spinners. “When it comes to thinking about others, I am humbled by the magnificent contribution our staff have made to both these charities and to all those who have supported their efforts. This is the third year that teams have undertaken charity rides and they have raised an amazing £11,800 in total.”

“I could not have asked for any more in terms of commitment from our employees in doing the challenge and despite the falls and mishaps they kept on getting up and riding on. Business is a challenge for everyone and we seem to have applied the same efforts to the challenge as we do in the business.”

The SCX Group is one of the UK’s leading specialist engineering providers of lifting solutions and moving structures. It has three separate divisions – Street Crane Xpress, Burnand XH and SCX Special Projects – which all offer specialist services within the heavy lifting field.

SCX Special Projects provides bespoke solutions for any kind of mechanical handling system, no matter how unusual the scenario, working with clients in a wide range of industries from nuclear, military and aerospace to theatres and entertainment.
