Charity boosted by glam rock inspired event
A north east children’s cancer charity has recently received a boost through a donation from a Stanley-based plastics packaging specialist and its employees.
The North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund (NECCR) is the latest local charity to benefit from the generosity of SONE Products and its members of staff.
Following the company’s annual summer event, which took place at Burnopfield Cricket Club’s new clubhouse and was based around a 1970s glam-rock theme, a cheque for £676 was presented to David Wood, the charity’s representative and former chairman.
With their usual enthusiasm for good causes and good fun, SONE’s staff made their donations as they enjoyed a day of activities and entertainment provided by glam rock band, SuperGlam and a 70s road show, hosted by Tony Tinsel.
Speaking about his employees’ positive attitude towards supporting good causes, SONE’s CEO, Raymond Oliver, said:
“As a local company it is important that we support the regional community whenever we can. Staff were asked to nominate a charity and this year it was NECCR.”
Receiving the cheque, David Wood said he was delighted that the charity had been chosen and that he was pleased to receive ’‘this great donation’’
