Award Winning exporter Jim Hart to host next We Are International event

Award-winning exporter, Jim Hart, is to host the next Leeds City Region We Are International, networking event at his Yeadon-based business One Global.

Jim Hart (pictured), chief executive of One Global and sister company, Europlus Direct, which has won two Queens Awards for Enterprise in International Trade, is main speaker at the two-hour event on September 4 at One Global, 2 Airport West, which is expected to attract up to 30 novice exporters.

One Global is a translation and global marketing company which translates materials into 200 languages and grew through supporting Europlus Direct, a global reseller of IBM and Lenovo Maintenance Services, with eight offices worldwide.

Jim Hart, a We are International export ambassador, will outline how to set up an overseas office and how exporters can capitalise on exporting by adopting a global perspective. One Global’s translations operations director, Nicola Carmyllie, will discuss the importance of language in overseas trade.

The event is being organised by international trade specialist, Chamber International, Bradford, as the latest in a series of networking events providing practical support for novice exporters as part of a Local Response Fund Capacity Building Project, a Skills Support for the Workforce Contract managed by Leeds City College.

The Response Project benefits from £11.8m from the European Social Fund made available through the Skills Funding Agency to finance training for working people and aims to help SMEs, with fewer than 250 staff, in the ten local authority areas within Leeds City Region invest in developing the skills of their workforce.

Chamber International has already run a series of networking events over the last 18 months – backed by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership’s We are International Campaign – providing practical support for dozens of novice exporters and leading directly to overseas orders which aim to bring in an additional £1.6bn to the ten local authority areas and create thousands of jobs by 2018.
