Be a Hero and Bring a Pound for Dougie Mac

Douglas Macmillan Hospice is calling for a heroic effort from the people of North Staffordshire to support their annual Bring a Pound Day; on Friday 10th October.

Working alongside Signal Radio, the Hospice is calling on businesses, schools and organisations to get creative and set challenges throughout the week.

Bring a Pound Day is the culmination of Hospice Care Week, where Hospices right across the country aim to raise awareness of all of the services they provide.

Activities throughout the day include a ‘send your love’ balloon release from each of the Hospices’ shop and Signal Radio’s studio with supporters personalised messages; at 4:30pm on the Friday afternoon.

Liz Clarke, Head of Fundraising commented,

“Bring a Pound Day is always a memorable day where the community of North Staffordshire comes together to support Douglas Macmillan Hospice.

“This year we’re asking our supporters to be a hero and help us to raise £100,000 for patient care which would take us to an incredible £250,000 raised since the campaign started.

“All monies raised will ensure we’re able to continue to provide care for adults in North Staffordshire facing a life limiting illness.”

Chris Buckley,Senior Programme Controller at Signal Radio said,

“Signal Radio is thrilled to be working with the Douglas Macmillan again, on our 5th Bring a Pound Day. The Hospice plays such an important role in our community, and we are proud to offer our support”

“We are always touched by the enthusiasm and generosity of our listeners during our Bring a Pound activity, it just proves how many lives the hospice touches across the area”
